TRC published a new type approval regulation in September 2025

On 16 September 2025, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRC) officially released the adopted version of "Instructions No. (2) of 2025 – Instructions on the Conditions and Procedures for Obtaining Approval to Import, Use, Possess, and Trade in Telecommunications Equipment and Terminal Telecommunications Equipment in the Kingdom.

We have observed a few minor amendments related to the type approval process and instructions. The required documents and certificate validity

remain the same; however, the authority has added more products to the exemption list, such as (Wireless charger, GPS navigation devices, without any functions or parts of high-power radio communication, Wireless Mouse, and Wireless Keyboard, ...... others).

There is no transition period for applying the new instructions-the new instructions took effect immediately upon publication on 16 September 2025.

TRC issued the resolution number (19-7/2024) dated (2024/07/30) regarding the type approval instructions

On August 29, 2024, The TRC has officially published the new type approval instructions, the new instructions will come into force as of the date 15 September 2024.

The major changes are:

1- The certificate validity has been reduced from 3 years to 1 year.

2- The label can be on the outer package or the product itself or within the product’s operating system (OS), or in the user manual. Previously, the label had to be fixed on both the outer package and the device itself.

3- The Manufacturer's address and product type information are no longer required for the label.
