Resolution 57/2026: Key Changes to Telecom Equipment Registration and Certification

The Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM) published Resolution 57/2026 on February 24, 2026. The regulation introduces a comprehensive restructuring of Argentina’s telecommunications equipment homologation and registration framework.

Below are the key changes introduced by the new resolution:

1. Creation of a Registry of Certification Bodies

A formal registry has been established for certification entities authorized to assess and approve telecommunications equipment.

2. Updated Registry of Testing Laboratories

Testing laboratories must comply with new recognition and operational requirements under the revised framework.

3. Product Classification

Equipment will be classified into Class A (consumer devices, SRDs, and mobile equipment) and Class B (infrastructure, broadcasting, and professional equipment).

4. Homologation by Product Family

The regulation explicitly allows homologation by product family, provided that the representative model is properly justified.

5. Mandatory Registration Disclosure

The RAMATEL registration number must be clearly indicated in commercial documentation and online sales listings, strengthening traceability and market surveillance.

6. Certificate Validity

Certificates will no longer have a fixed expiration date. They will remain valid indefinitely, provided that the product remains unchanged and continues to comply with the applicable requirements. However, market surveillance activities must be conducted every two years.

7. Transitional Provisions

Existing registrations will remain temporarily valid for three years during the transition to the new regulatory framework.

The new framework will become fully effective on September 1, 2026. Manufacturers, importers, and distributors are encouraged to review the updated procedures to ensure continued market access in Argentina.

Argentina- Minimum mandatory guidelines for equipment marking

ENACOM published the Resolution 586, dated May 8, 2023 with Minimum mandatory guidelines for equipment marking.

According to the Resolution 586 and further consultation with ENACOM, the new options for label placements are as follows:

1) If due to the structural nature, size or packaging, it is not possible to perform the marking directly on the product. Identification must be printed in the user Manual, and/or the quick start guide and/or corresponding package (either one of them is enough).

2) When the homologated device is installed inside a vehicle (automobiles, watercrafts, aircrafts, motorcycles, etc.) and its regulatory identification is not visible, the Identification must be printed on the product, and at least on one of the other options (in manual and/or in the documentation accompanying vehicle, and/or be published on the official website of the vehicle’s manufacturer or importer). As the marking on the product is mandatory, the old CNC ID marking on the product must be changed to RAMATEL.

3) For e-labeling, the marking must be displayed on the device screens. Instructions for e-label access should be included in the user manual, and/or in the quick start guide (or other documentation accompanying equipment), and/or on the packaging and/or on the official website of the manufacturer or importer (either one of them is enough).

ENACOM allocates 6 GHz Band for Wi-Fi Services

ENACOM published Resolution 756/2023 on May 24, 2023, which allocates 5925-7125 MHz Band for Wi-Fi Services. The frequency band is restricted to indoor use only.

Technical characteristics and operating conditions:

1) An access point or subordinate device may operate in the 5925-7125 MHz band with the Maximum Equivalent Isotropic

Radiation Power (EIRP) of 30 dBm and the maximum EIRP spectral density of 5 dBm in the bandwidth of 1 MHz.

2) A client device will be able to operate in the 5925-7125 MHz band with the Maximum Equivalent Isotropic Radiation Power

(EIRP) of 24 dBm and the maximum EIRP spectral density of -1 dBm in the width of 1 MHz band.

3) Emissions outside the band 5925-7125 MHz should not exceed the EIRP of -27 dBm/MHz.

4) The operation of access points, client devices and subordinate device is restricted to the inside of buildings only.

5) Access points, client devices and subordinate device must allow multiple users to share the same spectrum.

6) The operation of these devices is prohibited in vehicles (cars, trains, boats and airplanes). However, the operation of this

equipment will be allowed in aircraft when they fly above 10,000 feet height.
