The INSTITUTO FEDERAL DE TELECOMUNICACIONES (IFETEL) published a new regulation, IFT-017-2023, on February 10, 2025, which will be enforced after 270 days of the publishing date (November 6, 2025).

The new regulation applies for WLAN communication systems and equipment using digital modulation techniques operating in the following frequency bands:

5150 MHz-5250 MHz

5250 MHz-5350 MHz

5470 MHz-5600 MHz

5650 MHz-5725 MHz

5725 MHz-5850 MHz

5925 MHz-6425 MHz

Currently, for the 5GHz bands, only the 5725MHz-5850MHz band is covered under the scope of NOM-208-SCFI-2016 (IFT-008-2015) which requires local testing. All other 5 GHz bands are certified by document application by Perito technical opinion.

Once IFT-017-2023 new regulation is enforced, the 5725 MHz-5850 MHz band will no longer fall under NOM-208-SCFI-2016 (IFT-008-2015).

Products operating in any 5GHz band will require local testing under the new IFT-017-2023 regulation. Please see the official link of the new regulation, IFT-017-2023, as below.
